On Tuesday 7 November we took part in the round-table discussion on the automation and robotics sector applied to the packaging industry, organised by the portal infoPLC++, a leading media outlet in the field. The event, held at Fira Barcelona, was attended by representatives from the most important companies in the sectors and was moderated by Xavier Alcober, an infoPLC++ collaborator specialising in analysis and trends in industrial automation, robotics and industry 4.0.
The round-table discussion talked about the current situation in the sector and highlighted the challenges faced by companies supplying technology to the packaging sector, in terms of the changes, innovation and trends that are taking place:
- The current situation in the sector: problems arising from geopolitics and the supply chain crisis
- Technology transformation in the packaging sector within the Industry 5.0 paradigm
- Flexibility and productivity
- Sustainability challenges
- Changes in demand in the packaging sector
- Cybersecurity
- The importance of human factors

Of the more than 720 direct companies and 1,250 represented brands that will make up the exhibition area of Hispack 2024, one hundred will be suppliers of automation and robotics technology applied to packaging.
